Aerospace and Defense Program Manager at Enginuity

Dan Hill

Program Manager – Industry 4.0

One would be hard pressed to find an individual as passionate about his work as Dan. This fine fellow has planted one MILLION trees. Yes, you read that right, ONE million trees. New Brunswick saw Dan leave to spend his spring and summers amidst the blackflies of the clearcuts of western Canada, planting trees to support his snowboard habit and pay his university tuition.

Putting a million trees in the ground, one inevitably learns about the “economy of motion”- an exercise that allows the practitioner to fine tune every single movement and breath completely. This efficiency and precision measuring ingrained itself effortlessly into his DNA.

It was there, working the most gruelling of jobs, Dan learned the most important component of production, the human component. This aesthetic informs every aspect of his work as he leads the Industry 4.0 Program at Enginuity.

Returning to academics, Dan graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Having always had a heart for manufacturing, the young engineer took to Vancouver and applied his education in a snowboard manufacturing company – very apropos.

The company soon moved operations overseas in search of profitability; this event would further inform Dan’s approach and sensibilities. His next position would find him offering a tenure to the nuclear power industry, helping design the factory to make reactor core components, establishing processes, and analysing flow for each component and assembly.

His next role brought him to Nova Scotia, filling the role of manufacturing engineer for aerospace impresarios, Stelia Aerospace (formerly Composites Atlantic), making components for the Boeing 787, the first composite commercial aircraft. His work with the Lunenburg, NS company would result in a significant contribution to revenue.

Equally comfortable delving into both greenfield and brownfield projects, Dan (and the Industry 4.0 team) are equally adept at designing new systems or refining operations to new levels of performance.

His uncanny ability to identify bottlenecks, is a marvel to behold, as he demonstrates by continually improving everything with his grasp.

These attributes, honed and sharpened, allow you to identify and develop opportunities in your process that may not be apparent at first glance. Rest assured; Enginuity’s Industry 4.0 team will get your there.
