Today, we’ve got engineer, entrepreneur and one of the world’s leading experts in electric marine propulsion. Sue Molloy. In this episode, Ben traces Dr. Molloy’s sinuous journey from sailing Lough Derg on the River Shannon as a kid, to the eventual founding of her company, Glas Ocean.

Fuelled by her academic research in electric boats, and the development and evolution of data acquisition systems Glas Ocean ultimately received DARPA funding and became central to her work in dual-use technology.

Sue and Ben also explore the motivations behind focusing on electrification of smaller vessels, how environmental concerns and energy security influenced her research, and the technical and business-case progression from initial concept through advanced hardware and AI integration.

Heave away.
