Their easy-to-use, accurate cannabis analyzer, the HarvestIQ, measures the chemical profile of plants as they grow. This allows producers to optimize crops for quality, yield, consistency, and potency, leading to higher revenue.
The HarvestIQ empowers growers with the data needed to adjust the environment and meet customer demands. Designed to overcome the current challenges faced by indoor farms and cannabis producers, their weed analyzer and hemp analyzer eliminate the need to rely on external labs, which are often too slow and costly for effective quality control.
Understanding the Problem
The Challenge
Greenlight Analytical’s James Wylde identified a significant challenge in the cannabis industry: the traditional process of getting a cannabis sample into the laboratory was time-consuming, manual, and prone to human error, leading to inconsistent results. He envisioned a simpler, more convenient solution that could provide faster and more accurate analysis.
Greenlight Analytical needed an innovative device, such as a cannabis analyzer, that could quickly sample cannabis, analyze its chemical profile, and deliver reliable results. This led to the development of a prototype for a mass spectrometer that could address these issues.

Solving the Challenge
The Solution
Enginuity tackled the challenge by developing a prototype of a cannabis analyzer that simplifies and accelerates the sampling process. The team utilized product design and industrial design concepts to create a device that provides faster and more accurate results. They constructed a working technical demonstrator to validate the novel theory and conducted extensive testing to ensure its reliability and accuracy.
The device offers user-friendly operation: users can insert a piece of cannabis, press a button, and receive a detailed composition profile within minutes. Enginuity employed a two-pronged approach to the New Product Development Process for the Cannabis Analyzer:
1.Technical Demonstration: We demonstrated the novel theory by building a working technical demonstrator using appropriate prototyping techniques, providing a device for initial evaluation tests.
2. Usability and Design: In parallel with the working prototype, we validated product usability and developed an industrial design vision based on the demonstrated feasibility of the proof-of-concept.
