Welcome to Season 2 of Rough Seas, the Marine Engineering Podcast. What better way to start a new season than with a profile of marine tech impresario Tom Knox!
If, as they say, necessity is the mother of invention, then Tom is the father.
In this personal and candid interview, we join Tom Knox on his marine tech journey, beginning in radar, fibre optics, and RF testing under the tutelage of BAE Systems on the Isle of Wight, to eventually finding him as entrepreneur extraordinaire on Canada’s east coast
Tom’s knack for innovating multiplexer systems and finding the right clients around the globe has taken the young engineer from apprehending bad guys on the streets of Philadelphia to helping James Cameron, yes, that James Cameron get to the bottom of the Mariana trench.
His philosophy regarding R & D and financing, or the lack thereof, is a refreshing take on how to develop and market marine innovations.
